Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Bridge
The Bridge, with tracks in place, after an ice storm probably in the 1980's
The 500 ft. long bridge, built around 1890, now has a concrete deck and is part of Kent Trails.
The near end of the bridge (south end) could swing to allow passage of steamboats.
The Grand River and another view from the south end.
The north end of the bridge.
The bridge leads into a 400 ft curved trestle that crosses swampy ground.
The trestle from the other side
The end of the trestle with the bridge and the Grand River in the distance.
A few hundred yards from the end of the trestle are two small bridges over a creek. This is the main line bridge
Another view of the main line bridge. It has wood timbers under the ties.

and rocks
The other bridge taken from the main line bridge. I assume this is a more recent bridge. It has steel IBeams under the ties

LS&MS marker. I found three of these and they appear to mark the right of way. These must be old.
The "telltale" warned the brakeman riding on the roof of a car that a bridge or other obstruction was ahead. The bridge is directly behind me. This picture is from 1979.
One of the talking trees from the Wizard of Oz. I did't get hit with any apples. Got no brains either.
The fishermen were out on the Grand on this snowless January day.
And some even had some success. Lucky guy with a Walleye.
